Oologah Outlet Channel Riprap

HGL Construction served as the prime contractor on the seed project task order #0001 of a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) Single Award Task Order Contract (SATOC) Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ).
HGL’s scope included the repair of both the north and south slope of the outlet channel of the Oologah Lake dam. HGL removed and disposed of the existing stone protection material that was existing, then the sides of the outlet channel were graded to provide a 1:2 slope. New No. 18 deformed bars were provided, installed and grouted in 5” minimum diameter holes, and a 9” bedding and 30” riprap was provided and placed on the slope. HGL accessed the southern side of the channel through a haul road prepared by HGL. This new haul road utilized an existing road coming off of OK-88, just southwest of the dam. HGL prepared this existing road to accept construction traffic and vehicles carrying heavy loads; this effort required pruning of trees to create access for 18-wheeled construction trucks. The northern side of the channel was accessed through a newly constructed, temporary riprap bench/rock road placed across the channel utilizing rip rap (stone protection) that was to be removed and disposed of offsite. Immediately following the award, HGL began removing the riprap along the southern side of the channel to build a temporary riprap bench/rock road to access the northern side of the channel. A modest 36” culvert was provided under the temporary riprap bench/rock road to ensure reasonable water flow. The temporary riprap bench/rock road was removed post-construction, with the riprap dispersed along the channel embankment downstream of the existing boat ramp.
